Usage

Avamys Nasal Spray (Fluticasone Furoate) is a prescription medicine used to treat symptoms of allergic rhinitis, including stuffy, runny or itchy nose, sneezing and watery, itchy or red eyes, in adults and children. The active ingredient in Avamys Nasal Spray is Fluticasone furoate. Avamys Nasal Spray (fluticasone furoate) belongs to the corticosteroid group, frequently called 'steroids. It works in a similar way to naturally occurring corticosteroid hormones, reducing the activity of the immune system by attaching to receptors in various types of immune cells. This leads to a reduction in the release of substances involved in the inflammation process, such as histamine, therefore reducing allergy symptoms.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Avamys Nasal Spray are nose bleeds, nasal ulceration, nasal irritation or discomfort, streaks of blood when you blow your nose, headache and Shortness of breath. You may also have pain, burning, soreness or dryness on the inside of the nose.

Stop using Avamys Nasal Spray and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Blurred vision or changes to vision such as cataract or glaucoma;
• Chest tightness causing difficulty in breathing (dyspnea);
• Cushingoid features or adrenal suppression;
• Feeling that your heart is racing;
• High blood pressure;
• Increased frequency of infection such as cold or flu-like symptoms;
• Mood and behavioral changes such as anxiety, depression, hyperactivity or aggression;
Nasal septum perforation;
• Slowed growth in children and adolescents;
• Sores or ulcers inside the nose;
• Symptoms of a fungal infection in the nose — nasal discharge, fever, headache, fatigue, generally feeling unwell;
• Symptoms of decreased adrenal function such as tiredness, weakness, nausea, vomiting and low blood pressure;
• Symptoms of high blood sugar or Diabetes;
• Symptoms of too much corticosteroid such as weight gain, particularly around the body and face, sweating, thinning of the skin, bruising easily, muscle and bone weakness

Warnings and Interactions

You should not take Avamys Nasal Spray if you are allergic to Fluticasone furoate or any of the ingredients in Avamys Nasal Spray. In a few people, allergic reactions can develop into a more serious, even life-threatening problem if not treated. Symptoms include; becoming very wheezy, coughing or having difficulty breathing, suddenly feeling weak or light-headed, swelling around the face - skin rashes or redness. If you notice any of these symptoms, contact your doctor as soon as possible.

It would be best if you took Avamys Nasal Spray precisely the way your doctor prescribed and try to avoid situations that make your symptoms worse (things like pollen and dust mites), and it would be best to avoid smoking. Before you start using Avamys Nasal Spray, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:
• Asthmatic or treating asthma;
• Eye problems such as cataract or glaucoma;
• Growth in children and adolescents;
• HIV infection;
• Kidney problem;
• Liver Problem;
• Ongoing infections;
• Wound healing;
• You are using steroid creams

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or plan to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine. Do not use Avamys Nasal spray if you are breastfeeding unless your doctor or pharmacist tells you to. Avamys Nasal Spray is not effective and safe for use in children above under six years of age.
