Usage

Amphojel is an over-the-counter medication used to treat symptoms of excess stomach acid, such as heartburn, upset stomach, acid indigestion, or sour stomach. Excess stomach acid, also known as high stomach acid, can occur when the digestive system produces too much acid. It can be caused by a number of factors, including bacterial infections, stress, medication withdrawal, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and H. pylori infection. Amphojel may also be used to reduce phosphate levels in people with certain kidney conditions. The active ingredient in Amphojel is Aluminum hydroxide. Aluminum hydroxide belongs to a class of drugs called antacids. It works by lowering stomach acids. Amphojel does not prevent stomach acid production. It only works on the existing acid in the stomach. Amphojel may be used alone or with other medications that lower acid production.

The common side effects of Amphojel are constipation, hemorrhoids, appetite loss, and unusual tiredness.
