Augmentin Details (Brand and Generic)

Canada Pharmacy Online currently offers the brand Augmentin from India and Canada (Clavulin) by GSK. The generic Amoxicillin/Clavulanate is available from India (Clavam by Alkem Labs & Advent by Cipla). We also carry the generic from the United Kingdom (Co-Amoxiclav) and Canada by different manufacturers.

Dosage

Augmentin and the generic Amoxicillin/Clavulanate are both available in the strength of 250 mg/125 mg, 500 mg/125 mg, and 875 mg/125 mg tablets.

Usage

Augmentin (Amoxicillin/Clavulanate) is a prescription combination antibiotic containing amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium. Augmentin is used for the treatment of many infections caused by bacteria such as sinusitis, pneumonia, ear infections, bronchitis, urinary tract infections and skin infections. Amoxicillin is an antibiotic that belongs to a group of drugs called penicillin. Augmentin kills the bacteria by preventing it from forming the cell walls. Clavulanate potassium is a beta-lactamase inhibitor; it works by preventing certain bacteria from becoming resistant to amoxicillin. Augmentin will only treat bacterial infections. It does not work for viral infections such as the common cold and flu.
