Celexa Details (Brand and Generic)

CanadaPharmacyOnline.com offers the brand Celexa from Canada manufactured by Lundbeck. It is also known Cipramil from New Zealand and Turkey manufactured by Lundbeck. The generic Citalopram is available from Canada by Marcan & Teva and from the United Kingdom by a different manufacturer.

Dosage

Celexa is available in the strength of 20 mg and 40 mg tablets. The generic Citalopram comes in the strength of 10 mg, 20 mg, and 40 mg tablets, and 40 mg/ml/15 ml oral drops.

Usage

Celexa (Citalopram) is a prescription medication used to treat depression and MDD (major depressive disorder); MDD is more severe than depression. Citalopram is an antidepressant and belongs to the group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). It works by helping to restore the balance of a certain natural substance (serotonin) in the brain. This medication may improve your energy level and feelings of well-being.

Side Effects and Precautions

Stop using the medication and get medical care if you have an allergic reaction. Signs of an allergic reaction may include difficulty breathing, hives (rash on your body), swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat—If you experience any of these symptoms, please call 911 or seek emergency medical care at the nearest emergency room (ER).

The common side effects of Celexa may include cold symptoms, sexual dysfunction, drowsiness, dry mouth, increased urination and thirst, anxiety, unusual tiredness, poor appetite, insomnia (sleep problems), nausea, diarrhea, constipation, unusually heavy menstrual bleeding, nosebleeds, and increased muscle movement.

Call your doctor right away and seek medical care if you have any of the following side effects:
• Chest pain, fast heartbeats, shortness of breath, and severe dizziness;
• Seizures;
• Low levels of sodium in the body: headache, memory problems, being confused, and problems with thinking, feeling like you may faint;
• Severe nervous system reaction: high fever, tremors, rigid muscles, abnormal or racing heartbeats;
• Vision changes: seeing halos when being exposed around lights, eye pain;
• Mania: being extremely talkative with increased agitation, increased impulsivity, increased energy, with less need for sleep

Serotonin syndrome is rare, yet it is a very serious allergic reaction. You should get medical help right away if you notice any of the following symptoms: fever, sweating, shivering, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea, agitation, hallucinations, fast heart rate, muscle stiffness, twitching, and loss of coordination. Serotonin syndrome can be fatal if left untreated.
