Product Details

Ampyra is a potassium channel blocker used to improve walking for adults with multiple sclerosis (MS). This medication is not approved for anyone younger than 18 years old.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Ampyra may include headache, dizziness, weakness, drowsiness, insomnia, nausea, constipation, upset stomach, stuffy nose, sinus pain, sore throat, back pain, etc. The serious side effects may include:

• Balance problems;
• Numbness, burning pain, or tingling;
• Pain or burning sensation when you urinate;
• Relapse or worsening MS symptoms;
• Seizures;

You should not take Ampyra if you are allergic to Dalfampridine or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you currently take including OTC and herbal medications. It isn’t known how this medication might affect an unborn baby. However, you should not use Ampyra if you are nursing an infant. Talk to your doctor about the risks of taking this medication if you are pregnant or nursing. There may be an interaction between Ampyra and other medications, particularly cimetidine. Talk to your doctor about the risks.
