Asmanex Details (Brand and Generic)

CanadaPharmacyOnline.com offers the brand Asmanex Twisthaler from Canada by Merck and the United Kingdom by Schering and MSD. The generic Asmanex is not available. Our customers may also purchase other popular inhaler like Albuterol and Advair.

Dosage

Asmanex is available in the strength of 100 mcg/30 dose, 200 mcg/30 dose, 200 mcg/60 dose, and 400 mcg/60 dose Twisthalers.

Usage

Asmanex (Mometasone) contains the active ingredient mometasone furoate, a corticosteroid. Asmanex HFA is an inhaled corticosteroid medication used as a maintenance treatment to prevent asthma attacks in adults and children 5 years and older, reducing time lost from work or school. Asmanex must be used regularly to be effective. Asmanex is not a rescue medicine and must not be used for asthma attacks. If you have an asthma attack, use your quick-relief inhaler, such as Ventolin. Seek medical attention immediately if your breathing problems get worse quickly, or if you think your asthma medications are not working as well, as it can be an early sign of a serious asthma attack.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common Asmanex side effects include flu symptoms, headache, hoarseness or deepened voice, menstrual pain, muscle or joint pain, back pain, runny or stuffy nose, sinus pain, sore throat, and upset stomach.

Call your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Blurred vision, eye pain, or seeing halos around lights;
• Signs of thrush (a fungal infection) – sores or white patches in your mouth;
• Symptoms of low adrenal gland hormones – extreme tiredness or weakness, nausea, vomiting, lightheadedness;
• Wheezing, choking, or other breathing problems;
• Worsening asthma symptoms

Mometasone can affect growth in children. Tell the pediatrician if your child is not growing at normal rate while using this inhaler.

The above information is a summary and may not contain all information. If you still have questions about side effects, you should talk to your doctor or pharmacist so they can address all your concerns.

Warnings and Interactions

Signs of Asmanex (mometasone) allergy: difficulty breathing, hives (rash on your body), swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat—If you experience any of these symptoms, please call 911 or seek emergency medical care at the nearest emergency room (ER).

Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have ever had:
• A recent illness or infection including tuberculosis;
• Liver disease;
• Glaucoma, cataracts, or other vision problems;
• Herpes infection of the eyes;
• Low bone mineral density

You should avoid being near people who are sick or have infections. Mometasone can affect growth in children. Tell your doctor if your child is not growing at a normal rate. Asmanex HFA should not be given to a child younger than 5 years old.

Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. It is unknown if mometasone will harm an unborn baby. However, leaving asthma untreated during pregnancy can cause complications such as premature birth or eclampsia. The benefit of treating asthma may outweigh the risks to the baby. Talk to your doctor about your options. Talk to your doctor before using this medication if you are breast-feeding. It may not be safe to use Asmanex while breastfeeding.

You should also talk to your doctor about all the medications you take, including prescription, OTC, herbal medications, and vitamins or supplements, especially if you take:
• An antibiotic – clarithromycin, telithromycin;
• An antifungal medication – itraconazole, ketoconazole;
• Nefazodone;
• An antidepressant;
• HIV/AIDS medicine

Not all possible drug interactions are listed here. Talk to your pharmacist about any questions regarding drug interactions that you may have.
