Dosage

The brand Coversyl is available in the strength of 2 mg, 4 mg, and 8 mg tablets only.

Usage

Coversyl (Perindopril) is a prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure. This condition can cause complications like kidney problems, heart attack, and stroke if left untreated. Coversyl is also used to treat congestive heart failure and to reduce the likelihood of heart attack in people with coronary artery disease. The active ingredient in Coversyl is Perindopril. Perindopril belongs to the class of medication called angiotensin-converting enzymes (ACE) inhibitors. It works by relaxing the blood vessels to allow easy blood circulation and lower blood pressure.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Coversyl are cough, dizziness, headache, and vision changes.

Stop using Coversyl and contact your doctor immediately if you have any of the following serious side effects such as:
• Irregular heartbeat;
• Ringing in your ears;
• Signs of infection such as headache, shortness of breath, fever, or weight loss;
• Sudden chest pain

Warnings and Interactions

Before taking Perindopril, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to any ingredient in the drug or have any other allergies. Coversyl is a tablet, and it should be taken orally (by mouth) as directed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not crush, chew, or break it. Take this medication orally on an empty stomach (at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal) as directed by your doctor. Your dosage will depend on the condition you are treating. This drug may make you dizzy or drowsy. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs alertness until you can do it safely. Avoid standing up too fast from a sitting or lying position to reduce your risk of dizziness. Do not stop taking this medicine without talking to your doctor. High blood pressure often has no symptoms. Avoid drinking alcohol when using this drug. Alcohol may make you more dizzy. Drink enough water in hot weather and while exercising to reduce the risk of dehydration.

Before you start using Coversyl, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:
• Are receiving dialysis;
• Become pregnant or nursing a child;
• Have a history of angioedema;
• Have aortic stenosis;
• Have diabetes;
• Have galactose intolerance;
• Have kidney disease

Inform your doctor about all your medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Coversyl can harm an unborn baby. Use effective birth control to prevent pregnancy when using this drug. Perindopril may pass into breast milk and affect your baby. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding. There may be a drug interaction between Perindopril and other drugs, such as aliskiren, lithium, heparin, allopurinol, metformin, sacubitril, tacrolimus, and morphine.
