Usage

Cysta-Q (Quercetin 500 mg) is an over-the-counter medication used to relieve symptoms associated with painful bladder syndrome/interstitial cystitis (PBS/IC). PBS/IC is an unpleasant sensation in the urinary bladder associated with pain, pressure, and discomfort. Quercetin may also be prescribed for conditions like heart disease, high cholesterol, rheumatoid arthritis, and prostatitis. Cysta-Q contains a unique quercetin-based phytotherapeutic compound. The active ingredient in Cysta-Q is Quercetin. Quercetin belongs to a class of medications called flavonoids. It works by reducing inflammation and maintaining the body's inflammatory responses. Quercetin is a naturally occurring compound found in apples, green tea, and onions, and it has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Cysta-Q are headache, mild nausea, sweating, and upset stomach.

Stop using Cysta-Q and contact your doctor immediately if you have any of the following serious side effects such as:
• Signs of an allergic reaction, such as hives, breathing difficulties, swelling of the face, mouth, tongue, or throat

Warnings and Interactions

Before taking Quercetin, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to any ingredient in the medicine or have any other allergies. Cysta-Q is a tablet, and it should be taken orally (by mouth) with food as directed by your doctor, usually 2 times daily. Use this drug for a minimum of 4 weeks to see beneficial effects. Inform your doctor if your symptoms worsen or persist after 3 months. Do not take more than your recommended dose. High doses of Quercetin may damage your kidneys. It would be best if you took periodic breaks from taking this drug.

Before you start using Cysta-Q, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:
• Become pregnant or nursing a child;
• Have gastrointestinal ulcer;
• Have heart problems;
• Have high blood pressure;
• Have kidney disease

Inform your doctor about all your medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Interstitial cystitis can induce a miscarriage. However, you may get too much Quercetin in your body if used as a supplement. Quercetin passes into breast milk. It would be best to know that breastfeeding is not recommended while using this drug. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding. There may be a drug interaction between Quercetin and other drugs such as cyclosporine, digoxin, cisplatin, aspirin, and warfarin.
