Usage

Dristan Nasal Spray (Oxymetazoline Hydrochloride) is an over-the-counter nasal spray that temporarily relieves nasal congestion due to a cold, hay fever, or other upper respiratory allergies. The active ingredient in Dristan Nasal Spray is Oxymetazoline Hydrochloride. Oxymetazoline Hydrochloride belongs to the class of medication called nasal decongestants. It works by shrinking blood vessels in the nasal passages, reducing swelling and congestion. Dilated blood vessels can cause nasal congestion. Through this mechanism of action, Dristan nasal spray temporarily restores free breathing through the nose.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Dristan Nasal Spray are sneezing, dryness of the nose, increase in nasal discharge, and mild stinging sensation in the nose.

Stop using Dristan Nasal Spray and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the severe side effects such as:
• Headache;

Warnings and Interactions

Before using this nasal decongestant, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it, have other sympathomimetics (such as pseudoephedrine), or have any other allergies. Dristan Nasal spray should be sprayed into each nostril 2 to 3 sprays every 10 to 12 hours. Do not exceed 2 doses in any 24 hours. To spray, squeeze the bottle quickly and firmly. Do not tilt your head backward while spraying. Wipe the nozzle clean after use. Do not use for more than 3 days. Prolonged use may cause nasal congestion to recur or worsen. Discuss with your doctor if there is no significant improvement in your condition.

Before you start using Dristan Nasal Spray, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:
• Asthma;
• Diabetes mellitus;
• High blood pressure;
