Fosamax Plus D Information

Fosamax Plus D Details (Brand and Generic)

CanadaPharmacyOnline.com currently offers the brand Fosamax Plus D from Canada also called Fosavance manufactured by Merck. The generic Alendronate is also available from Canada by a different manufacturer. Our customers may also buy other osteoporosis medications such as Boniva.

Dosage

The brand Fosamax Plus D and its generic Alendronate are available in the strength of 70 mg/2800 IU and 70 mg/5600 IU oral tablets

Usage

Fosamax Plus D (Alendronate) is a prescription medication used to treat bone loss (osteoporosis) and Paget disease in men and post-menopausal women. The active ingredients in the Fosamax Plus D tablet are Alendronate and cholecalciferol (vitamin D3). Alendronate belongs to the class of drugs known as Calcium metabolism modifiers (Bisphosphonate derivatives). Alendronate works by slowing bone loss to help maintain strong bones and reduce the risk of broken bones (fractures). The Vitamin D3 component helps your body absorb calcium and builds healthy bones.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Fosamax Plus D include nausea, vomiting, headache, abdominal pain and swelling, diarrhea, and heartburn.

Stop using Fosamax Plus D and contact your doctor right away if you have any of these severe uncommon side effects such as:
• Esophagitis, esophageal erosions, esophageal ulcers, esophageal stricture or perforation, and oropharyngeal ulceration; gastric or duodenal ulcers;
• Hypersensitivity reactions such as urticaria and angioedema; transient myalgia, malaise, asthenia, and fever; symptomatic hypocalcemia, peripheral edema;
• Localized osteonecrosis of the jaw, generally associated with tooth extraction and local infection with delayed healing;

Warnings and Interactions

This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details. You should not take Fosamax Plus D if you have low calcium levels (hypocalcemia) or a problem with the movement of muscles in your esophagus. You will need to stay upright for at least 30 minutes after taking Fosamax Plus D. You should stop smoking and reduce your alcohol consumption because it increases your chance of getting osteoporosis.
