The active ingredient in Fucidin is Sodium Fusidate. Sodium Fusidate belongs to the class of drugs called antibiotics (isoprenoid). It works by stopping bacteria from growing.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Fucidin are mild irritation at the application area, skin blistering, and pain when the Cream is applied to deep leg ulcers.

Stop using Fucidin cream and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Signs of a severe allergic reaction (e.g., abdominal cramps, difficulty breathing, nausea, vomiting, or swelling of the face and throat);

Warnings and Interactions

Before you start using this medication, you should tell your doctor about your allergies, including your previous reaction to Fucidin Cream if you've used it before. Fucidin comes as a cream and ointment mainly for external use (skin). Therefore, it is essential to use this cream/ointment precisely as directed by your doctor. If you forget to apply this medication, apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next application, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not apply a double dose to make up for a missed one. It will worsen the side effects with the manifestation of skin abnormality. Avoid contact with your eyes, nose, or mouth. Rinse off with water if you accidentally get the Cream in these areas. Inform your doctor if your infection becomes worse during treatment or if it comes back after you have stopped treatment with Fucidin Cream.

Before you start using Fucidin, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:
• An infected wound on the skin;
• Liver problem or a gallbladder problem

Tell your doctor about all the medications you use, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to get pregnant while using Fucidin Cream for your skin condition. Fucidin cream is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. If you become pregnant while taking this medication, contact your doctor immediately. This medication may pass into breast milk. You should consult your doctor before breastfeeding your child. There may be a drug interaction between Fucidin and other drugs such as vaccines such as typhoid vaccine.
