Usage

Grazax (Lyophilisate) is a prescription medication used to reduce allergic reactions like conjunctivitis and rhinitis caused by grass pollen in adults and children older than five years. Grass allergy can cause itchy eyes and throat, runny nose, and sneezing. The active ingredient in Grazax is Lyophilisate. Grazax belongs to a class of drugs called allergen extracts. It works by modifying the allergic disease by increasing the immune tolerance towards grass pollen.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Grazax are prickling, dry throat, swelling of eyes or lips, runny nose, heartburn, chest discomfort, eye, lip, or nose itching, and numbness of mouth.

Stop using Grazax and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Breathing difficulties;
• Hives;
• Rapid swelling of face, mouth, or throat;
• Swallowing difficulties;
• Voice changes;
• Worsening of existing asthma

Warnings and Interactions

You should not use Grazax if you are allergic to Lyophilisate or any of the ingredients in Grazax. Your doctor will evaluate your symptoms and do a skin prick test or take your blood sample before prescribing Grazax. It would be best to use Grazax precisely as your doctor prescribed. It is advisable to take your first sublingual Lyophilisate dose under medical supervision. Do not take food and drink for at least five minutes after using the drug. Keep taking Grazax every day, even if it takes some time for your allergy to improve. Place the drug under your tongue until it has dissolved. Do not swallow for 1 minute. Before you start using Grazax, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:
• A recent tooth extraction or oral surgery;
• An illness affecting the immune system;
• Cancer;
• Severe allergy to fish;
• Severe asthma;
• Severe mouth inflammation

Tell your doctor about all the medications you use, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. It is not known if this medicine will harm an unborn baby. It is not known if Grazax passes into breast milk. Inform your doctor if you breastfeed or are planning to breastfeed your baby. There may be a drug interaction between Grazax and other medications, such as antihistamines and corticosteroids.
