The brand version is not available at this time. Our customers may also purchase other anti-inflammatory medications such as Celebrex and Arthrotec. For more information and further assistance, please call our Customer Service Department at 1-866-920-3784.

Dosage

The generic Indomethacin is available in the strength of 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg tablets.

Usage

Indocin (Indomethacin) is used to treat moderate to severe osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gouty arthritis, or ankylosing spondylitis. This medication is also used to treat should pain caused by bursitis or tendinitis. Indomethacin belongs to the class of medications called NSAIDs. This medication works by stopping the body's production of a substance that causes pain, fever, and inflammation. Indomethacin helps to decrease swelling and pain.

Signs of an allergic reaction may include difficulty breathing, hives (rash on your body), swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. If you experience any of these symptoms, please call 911 or seek emergency medical care at the nearest emergency room (ER).

Warnings and Interactions

Do not use Indomethacin if you are allergic to it, or if you have ever had an asthma attack or a severe allergic reaction after taking Aspirin or an NSAID.

Before you start taking this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history and if you smoke or if you have ever had:
• A heart attack, stroke, or blood clot;
• Asthma;
• Bleeding problems, stomach ulcers;
• Fluid retention;
• Heart disease, high blood pressure;
• Liver or kidney disease

Follow your doctor’s advice and follow all medication guidelines for your medication. Use it exactly as directed. Use the lowest effective dose for treating your condition. Swallow the capsules whole and do not crush, chew, or break it open. Store Indocin in its original container at room temperature – away from heat, moisture, and light. Heavy drinking can increase your risk of stomach bleeding; avoid alcohol. Do not take Aspirin unless advised by your doctor. Tell your doctor about all the medications you take including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be an interaction between Indocin and other medications such as cyclosporine, lithium, methotrexate, probenecid, heart or blood pressure medication, diuretics, blood thinners, and other NSAIDs. Ask your doctor before taking Indocin if you are currently taking an antidepressant; combining an NSAID with an antidepressant may increase the risk of bleeding or bruising. Do not take Indomethacin during pregnancy unless advised by your doctor. This medication may temporarily affect fertility in women. Consult your doctor if you are breastfeeding. This medication is not approved for anyone younger than 14 years old.
