Usage

Lac Hydrin (Ammonium Lactate 12%) is a topical prescription medication used to treat dry and scaly skin (irritated skin condition such as ichthyosis vulgaris) and flaky skin. Ammonium Lactate is also used to relieve itching associated with these conditions temporarily. The active ingredient in Lac Hydrin is Ammonium lactate. Ammonium lactate belongs to the group of medications called emollients. It works by causing skin hydration. In addition, Lac Hydrin lotion may be used for other purposes not mentioned in this guide.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Lac Hydrin are transient burning/stinging sensation, skin redness, irritation, and peeling of the skin.

Stop using Lac Hydrin and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Hypersensitivity reactions such as severe body itching, difficulty with breathing, and swelling of different parts of the body;
• Red and black dots all over the skin;
• Severe changes in skin colour such as hypo/hyperpigmentation;
