Product Details

Linessa (Desogestrel –Ethinyl Estradiol) is a combination birth control pill that is used for the prevention of pregnancy. This medication works by preventing ovulation and causing changes in the mucus of the cervix that makes it difficult for sperm to penetrate and for an egg to implant. Linessa may also be taken to regulate the menstrual cycle.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common Linessa side effects of Linessa include abdominal cramping and bloating, back pain, bleeding or spotting between menstrual periods, constipation, diarrhea, painful or missed periods, swelling, redness, irritation or itching of the vagina, upset stomach and vomiting. The serious side effects may include:
• Bulging eyes;
• Coughing up blood;
• Depression;
• Dizziness or faintness;
• Extreme weakness;
• Rash;
• Unusual bleeding

You should not take Linessa if you are allergic to desogestrel and ethinyl estradiol. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about all the medications you are currently taking including OTC and herbal medications. Smoking cigarettes increases the risk of serious side effects from birth control pills. This medication passes into the breast milk and may reduce flow. Always drink in moderation. There may be an interaction between Linessa and other medications such as antibiotics, atorvastatin, diltiazem, fluoxetine, itraconazole, topiramate, vitamin c, etc.
