Product Details

Luvox (Fluvoxamine) is a prescription medication that is used to treat depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). It helps to reduce anxiety and unpleasant thoughts and improves mood by treating depression. It also helps decrease persistent/unwanted thoughts and urges to perform repeated tasks that interfere with daily living. Fluvoxamine is known as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). This medication works by increasing the amount of serotonin in the brain.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects may include dizziness, drowsiness, loss of appetite, nausea, sweating, trouble sleeping, vomiting and weakness. The serious side effects may include:
• Bleeding;
• Decrease in sexual interest/ability;
• Easy bruising;
• Shaking (tremor);
• Vision changes;
• Vomit that looks like coffee grounds

You should not take Luvox if you are allergic to Fluvoxamine or if you have any other allergies. Before you start using this medication, inform your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you are currently taking including OTC and herbal medications. This medication may make you dizzy or drowsy. Do not drive, use machinery or do any activity that requires you to be alert until you are sure you can perform such activities safely. Avoid alcoholic beverages. The weight and height of children who are taking this medication should be monitored because they are more sensitive to the side effects of this medication especially loss of appetite and weight loss. This drug passes into breast milk. This medication can increase the effects of caffeine. Smoking cigarettes will decrease blood levels of this medication.
