Dosage

Minims Phenylephrine is available in the strength of 2.5 %/0.5 ml and 10 %/0.5 ml Dropperettes.

Usage

Minims Phenylephrine (Phenylephrine Hydrochloride) is a prescription and over-the-counter eye drop used by an ophthalmologist to dilate (enlarge) the pupil of the eye so that your doctor can examine your eye(s). The active substance in Minims Phenylephrine eyedrop is Phenylephrine Hydrochloride. Phenylephrine Hydrochloride belongs to a class of medicines called sympathomimetic agents. It works by acting on alpha receptors on the muscle in the eye that dilates the pupil. This causes this muscle to contract, making the pupil dilate or enlarge. Our customers may also buy Lumify from our CIPA certified pharmacy.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Minims Phenylephrine are headache, red eyes, blurred vision or problems seeing clearly, stinging sensation in the eyes, and increased sensitivity to light.

Stop using Minims Phenylephrine and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Allergic reactions such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or other parts of the body;
• Breathlessness, which may be painful and usually worsens on lying down;
• Fast or irregular heartbeat;
• Increased sweating;
• Paleness around the eyes;
• Trembling or tremors;
• Whitening of the skin

Warnings and Interactions

If you are instilling your drops, then follow the directions below. You may find it easier to put drops in your eye while sitting or lying down. If you are wearing contact lenses, remove them before putting the drops in your eye.
• Wash your hands well with soap and water.
• Shake the container very well to allow for an equal mix of the medication;
• Break the seal;
• Hold the container upside down in one hand between your thumb and forefinger;
• Using your other hand, gently pull down your lower eyelid to form a pouch/pocket;
• Tilt your head back and look up;
• Put the tip of the container close to your lower eyelid. Do not let it touch your eye;
• Release the required number of drops into the pouch/pocket formed between your eye and eyelid by gently squeezing the container;
• Close your eye. Do not blink or rub your eye;
• While your eye is closed, place your index finger against the inside corner of your eye and press against your nose for about two minutes. It helps to stop the medicine from draining through the tear duct to the nose and throat, from where it can be absorbed into other parts of your body.

You should wait at least 30 minutes if you want to use your contact lenses to avoid cross-reactions and eye itching. Minims Phenylephrine Eye may cause severe and transient blurring of vision. Patients should be advised not to drive or operate hazardous machinery until their vision is clear. If you may experience irritation, pain, swelling, excessive tear production, or light sensitivity while using the eye drops, flush the treated eye(s) with lots of water (room temperature) for at least 15 minutes. If these symptoms persist, you should stop using the eye drops and contact your doctor.

Before you start applying Minims Phenylephrine eye drops, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:
• Arteriosclerosis;
• Asthma;
• Diabetes mellitus;
• Fast heartbeat;
• Glaucoma (high pressure in the eye);
• High blood pressure;
• Hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid gland);
• Heart disease

Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. You should inform your doctor before examining your eyes with this medication if pregnant. It is unknown if it is harmful to the growing baby. You should also reach out to your doctor before breastfeeding if you regularly use Minims Phenylephrine eye drops. There may be a drug interaction between Minims Phenylephrine and other drugs such as frusemide, bisoprolol, nifedipine, carvedilol, and fluvoxamine.
