Product Details

Monopost belongs to a class of medications known as prostaglandins. It is used to lower the pressure within the eye, for treating conditions such as open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. Both of these conditions are linked with an increase in pressure within your eye, eventually affecting the eye sight. Monopost lowers the pressure inside the eye by increasing the natural outflow of the fluid from the eye into the bloodstream. Monopost is available as 50 micrograms/ml eye drops, solution in single dose container.

Some less serious side effects of Monopost may include gradual change in the eye color (increase in the amount of brown pigment in the colored part of the eye), redness of the eye, eye irritation (a feeling of burning, grittiness, itching, stinging, or sensation of a foreign body in the eye, a gradual change to the eyelashes of the treated eye (increase of color, length, thickness and number of eye lashes), eyelid inflammation and eye pain. Stop using Monopost and contact your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:

• Developing a viral infection of the eye caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV)
• Fluid filled area within the colored part of the eye (iris cyst)
• Headache, dizziness, palpitations
• Muscle pain, joint pain

Always use the eye drops as prescribed by your doctor. The usual dose for adults is one drop once a day in the affected eye. The best time to use the eye drops is in the evening. Do not use it more than once a day, because the effectiveness of the treatment can be reduced by using it more often. Do not use Monopost if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to latanoprost or any of the other ingredients of this medicine, are pregnant or trying to become pregnant, are breast feeding. Monopost may interact with other medicines. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are using, have recently used or might use any other medicines. Before using the eye drops, inform your doctor if you are about to have or have had eye surgery (including cataract surgery), suffer from eye problems (such as eye pain, irritation or inflammation, blurred vision), from dry eyes, have severe asthma or your asthma is not well controlled, wear contact lenses, have suffered or are currently suffering from a viral infection of the eye caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV).
