Usage

Monopril (Fosinopril) is a prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure in adults and children at least six years old. High blood pressure is when the force of blood pushing against your artery walls is consistently too high. This damages your arteries over time and can lead to serious complications like heart attack and stroke. The drug is also used to treat congestive heart failure in adults. The active ingredient in Monopril is Fosinopril. Fosinopril belongs to the class of medication called angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. It works by blocking the formation of angiotensin II to help your blood vessels relax so blood can move through them more easily.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Monopril are dizziness, nausea, vomiting, muscle pain, chest pain, and runny nose.

Stop using Monopril and contact your doctor immediately if you have any of the following serious side effects such as:
• Lightheadedness;
• Signs of kidney problems such as swelling, urinating less, shortness of breath;
• Signs of liver problems such as appetite loss, clay-colored stools, and stomach pain in the upper right side
