Usage

NexGard Combo (Esafoxolaner/Eprinomectin/Praziquantel) is a prescription medication used to treat and prevent internal and external parasites in cats. The drug is used against parasites like roundworms, hookworms, tapeworms, fleas, ticks, and heartworms. The active ingredients in NexGard Combo are Esafoxolaner, Eprinomectin, and Praziquantel. Esafoxolaner belongs to a class of drugs called isoxazoline insecticides. Eprinomectin belongs to a class of medications called avermectin insecticides. Esafoxolaner and Eprinomectin work by attacking the nervous system of parasites, leading to paralysis and death. Praziquantel belongs to a class of drugs called antihelmintics. It works by causing severe spasms and paralysis of the worms' muscles. Some of these worms are then passed in stool.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of NexGard Combo are vomiting, appetite loss, lethargy, and reaction at the application site.

Stop administering NexGard Combo and contact your veterinarian immediately if your cat has any of the following serious side effects such as:
• Hypersalivation;
• Signs of seizures, such as uncontrolled movements, loss of consciousness, excessive drooling, disorientation, etc.

Warnings and Interactions

Before administering Esafoxolaner/Eprinomectin/Praziquantel, tell your veterinarian if your cat is allergic to any ingredient in the drug or has any other allergies. NexGard Combo comes as a solution and should be applied topically (on the skin) as directed by your veterinarian. Ingesting this drug can lead to hypersalivation. Please avoid direct contact with the application site until it is visibly dry. Apply this medicine topically once a month. Part the hair on the neck's midline, between the skull's base and shoulder blades, until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the applicator on the skin and apply the contents of the medicine directly onto the skin in one spot. NexGard Combo should be applied to dry skin on an area where the cat cannot lick it off. If the cat's weight requires a second application, apply the contents the same way and in the same location. Wash your hands with soap and water after applying the medicine. You can apply NexGard Combo with or without food. NexGard Combo should only be used in kittens at least 8 weeks old and weighing more than 1.8 lbs (0.8 kg). This medicine is for use in cats only. It is not for human use.

Before you start administering NexGard Combo, inform your veterinarian about your cat's medical history, especially if it:
• Is pregnant or breeding;
• Is lactating;
• Has a history of seizures;
• Has neurologic disorders

Inform your veterinarian about all your medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your veterinarian if your cat is pregnant or breeding. It is unknown whether NexGard Combo is safe for pregnant or breeding cats. Inform your veterinarian if your cat is breastfeeding. The safety of NexGard Combo in lactating cats is unknown. There may be a drug interaction between NexGard Combo and other drugs.
