Product Details

Olmetec Plus (Olmesartan/Hydrochlorothiazide) is a prescription combination medication that contains two medications Olmesartan and Hydrochlorothiazide which is used to lower high blood pressure. Olmesartan belongs to the class of medications called angiotensin II receptor blockers and that helps to lower blood pressure by blocking the action of a chemical that causes blood vessels to constrict or tighten which relaxes blood vessels. Hydrochlorothiazide belongs to the class of medications called diuretics or “water pills” and helps control blood pressure by getting rid of excess salt and water. This medication is usually used when a person has taken olmesartan and hydrochlorothiazide on its own without any problems.

The common side effects include: abdominal pain, back or leg pain, constipation, cough, decreased appetite, diarrhea, dizziness, fatigue, headache, heartburn, nausea, pins and needles sensation and sexual difficulties, upper respiratory tract infection and vomiting. The serious side effects may include:
• Chest pain;
• Severe skin rash including skin blistering and peeling;
• Signs of a serious allergic reaction;
• Symptoms of increased pressure in the eyes

You should not take Olmetec Plus if you are allergic to Olmesartan/Hydrochlorothiazide or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you take including OTC and herbal medications. This medication may make you drowsy or dizzy. You should not drive or do any activity that requires you to be alert. This medication should not be used during pregnancy. If you become pregnant while taking this medication, stop taking this medication and contact your doctor immediately. It is unknown if Olmesartan passes into breast milk. It is unknown if Olmesartan passes into breast milk. Hydrochlorothiazide passes into breast milk. If you are breast-feeding mother and are taking Olmesartan – hydrochlorothiazide, it may affect your baby. You should not breast-feed while you are taking this medication. There may be an interaction between Olmesartan-hydrochlorothiazide and other medications such as alcohol, aliskiren, allopurinol, amantadine, brimonidine, cyclosporine, digoxin, enoxaparin, gemfibrozil, hydralazine, licorice, lithium, oxcarbazepine, topiramate, vitamin d, warfarin, etc.
