Usage

Reglan (Metoclopramide) is a prescription medicine for treating stomach and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Metoclopramide is also effective in treating and preventing nausea and vomiting and helps with emptying the stomach in people with delayed stomach emptying. The active ingredient in Reglan is Metoclopramide. Metoclopramide belongs to the class of medicine called antiemetic agents, prokinetics. It works by blocking the dopamine receptors (at high doses) and serotonin receptors in the chemoreceptor trigger zone of CNS; it increases upper GI motility but not secretions and increases lower oesophageal sphincter tone. Reglan helps reduce feelings of sickness (nausea) and helps stop vomiting.
