Product Details

Sernivo (Betamethasone Dipropionate) is medication used to treat plaque psoriasis. Betamethasone is a strong corticosteroid that reduces the swelling, itching, and redness that occurs with certain skin conditions, such as plaque psoriasis and eczema. It works by activating natural substances in the skin to reduce inflammation.

Common side effects may include itching, redness, burning, stinging, blistering, bruising, folliculitis, or shiny skin. The serious side effects may include:

• Blurred bision, tunnel vision, eye pain, or seeing halos around lights
• Depression or anxiety
• Dry mouth
• Fruity breath
• Increased body hair
• Increased thirst or urination
• Muscle weakness
• Puffiness in the face
• Severe skin irritation where the medication was applied
• Signs of allergic reaction
• Signs of skin infection
• Slow wound healing
• Thin skin
• Tiredness
• Weight gain

You should not use Sernivo if you are allergic to Betamethasone Dipropionate or Betamethasone Dipropionate, or if you have any swelling in your eye. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you take including OTC and herbal medications. It isn’t known whether or not Sernivo will have an effect on an unborn or nursing baby. Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant or nursing so you can discuss the risks.

Precautions

Follow your doctor’s advice and follow all medication guidelines for your medication. Use it exactly as prescribed. Do not take this medication by mouth. It is a topical skin spray and should be used only for the sin. If it gets in your eyes or mouth, rinse with water immediately. Wash your hands before and after using this medication, unless it is meant to treat the skin on your hands. Apply a small amount to the affected area and gently rub it in. Do not cover the treated skin unless your doctor tells you to. Use regularly for the best benefit and stop using once your symptoms clear up. Do not use Sernivo longer than 4 weeks in a row. Store at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.

There may be an interaction between Sernivo and other medications. Talk to your doctor before you use other medications while on Sernivo. To ensure this medication is right for you, be sure to tell your doctor if you have any health problems that have been treated in the past, including:

• Adrenal gland problems
• Cataracts or glaucoma
• Diabetes
• Liver disease
• Skin infections
• Skin irritation after using steroids
• Thinning of the skin where you apply a steroid

Answer: Do not give this medication to a child without a dotor’s advice. At this time, it is not approved for anyone younger than 18 years old. Steroids can affect the growth of children. If your doctor has prescribed this medication for them, be sure to watch how they are growing and tell your doctor if your child isn’t growing at a normal rate while using this medication.
