Product Details

Steglatro (ertugliflozin) is an oral diabetes medication used in combination with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes. It should be used when diet, exercise, and weight reduction have not been found to lower blood glucose well enough on its own. Controlling high blood sugar helps prevent kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs, and sexual function problems. Belonging to the drug class called SGLT-2 inhibitors, Steglatro works by reducing kidney absorption of glucose, as well as the kidneys threshold for glucose, which leads to an increase in urinary excretion of glucose.

Side effects

Stop using the medication and get medical care if you have an allergic reaction. Signs of an allergic reaction may include difficulty breathing, hives (rash on your body), swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat—If you experience any of these symptoms, please call 911 or seek emergency medical care at the nearest emergency room (ER).

Common side effects of Steglatro include genital yeast infections or urinating more than usual. Contact your doctor if you notice more serious side effects such as new pain, tenderness, sores, ulcers, or infections in your legs or feet, little or no urination, signs of ketoacidosis (nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, unusual drowsiness, or trouble breathing), symptoms of dehydration (dizziness, weakness, feeling, light-headedness), or signs of a bladder infection (pain or burning when you urinate, increased urination, blood in your urine, fever, or pain your pelvis or back).

The above information is a summary and may not contain all the side effect information. If you still have questions about side effects, you should talk to your doctor or pharmacist so they can address all your concerns.
