14 Days of Coronavirus Quarantine Meals in South Korea

This content is based on my first-hand experiences, which should not be used as advice for your travel routine. Each country and quarantine facility may have different travel rules and protocols.

Day 1

We arrived at the quarantine facility at almost 10 pm in Seoul and did not get a chance to take photos of the dinner. We decided to record what we were eating from day 2. Meal times were 8 am, 12 pm, and 6 pm. Every meal comes with two bottles of water. Take a look at what the meals were like during our 14-day mandatory stay at a Korean quarantine facility. All the photos display a couple’s stay in the facility.

Myths vs Facts:

Myth: All quarantine meals are free.

Fact: Not really. The facility doesn’t charge extra for food, but the price of it is already included in the charge.

Myth: There are no other food options if you are a vegetarian or don’t eat pork.

Fact: There are three different food options: regular, vegetarian, and no pork. Also, the facility staff checks if you have any food sensitivities or other allergies or if you are taking any medications on day 1.

Myth: You can request extra meal if you need them.

Fact: Extra meals are not a guarantee. Call the facility staff in advance and talk to them nicely. They will double-check to see if extra meals can be provided to you during the day.

Myth: Children’s meals or snacks can be provided upon request.

Fact: The quarantine facility we stayed at told us that they don’t provide any children's meals, including milk or any other snacks.

Myth: We can order food delivery from outside.

Fact: Hot or raw food is not allowed. Our quarantine facility checked the arriving parcels daily; you can only order something that you could ship to yourself or bring along, such as instant noodles.
