Warnings and Interactions

Before taking Cefuroxime, you should tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it, penicillin or other cephalosporin antibiotics (such as cephalexin), or any other allergies. This medication comes as a tablet or oral suspension to be taken by mouth. You should tell your doctor if you have a history of colitis, renal impairment, or with a history of seizure disorders. This will assist your doctor in regular your dosage or changing your medication to another type to lessen the possible side effects. You should use this medication according to your doctor's prescription and dosage. Suppose you are using the Cefuroxime Axetil Suspension. Shake the bottle very well before each dose. Measure the dose out carefully with a medication spoon/cup. Take this medication by mouth with food, usually twice daily (every 12 hours), or as directed by your doctor. Ceftin can make birth control pills less effective, resulting in unwanted pregnancies. Tell your doctor if you are taking birth control pills to prevent pregnancy. You may need to use another form of birth control during treatment with this medicine. It would be best to use a Ceftin tablet or suspension for the full prescribed length of time, even if your symptoms quickly improve. Skipping doses can increase your risk of infection that is resistant to medication. Ceftin will not treat a viral infection such as the flu or a common cold. Consult your doctor if there is no significant improvement in your symptoms despite regular medication use.

Before you start using Ceftin, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:
• Diabetes mellitus;
• Intestinal diseases such as colitis;
• kidney problems;
• Liver problems;
• Poor nutrition

Tell your doctor about all the medications you use, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to get pregnant while using Ceftin products. This medication is usually considered safe during pregnancy for the fetus. However, it would be best to discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. This medication passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
