Product Details

Eldepryl (selegiline) is used to treat symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. Eldepryl prevents the breakdown of a chemical in your brain called dopamine. Low levels of dopamine are associated with Parkinson’s disease, so by stopping the breakdown of the chemical, symptoms can be greatly reduced. Eldepryl is not a cure for Parkinson’s disease. Eldepryl may be used alone, but is often used together with levodopa and carbidopa to treat the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.

Common side effects of Eldepryl include dizziness, nausea, stomach pain, or constipation, skin rash or other irritation, or sleep problems (insomnia). Contact your doctor immediately if you notice more serious side effects such as light-headedness, trouble breathing, confusion, hallucinations, unusual thoughts or behaviour, increased tremors or uncontrolled muscle movements, worsening side effects of your other medications, increased sexual urges or unusual urges to gamble, signs of high levels or serotonin in the body, or signs of high blood pressure.

To make sure Eldepryl is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease, if you have high blood pressure, if you are pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding. Do not use Eldepryl if you are allergic to selegiline, or if you have taken fluoxetine within the past 5 weeks. Tell your doctor about any medications you are currently using. Your doctor may need to change your treatment plan if you use cough medicine hat contains dextromethorphan, cyclobenzaprine, meperidine or other opioid pain medication, methadone, St. John’s wort, tramadol, antidepressants, or MAO inhibitors.
