Warnings and Interactions

Before using Ketoconazole, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to any ingredient in the drug or have any other allergies. Ketoconazole is available as a cream, gel, and tablet. The cream and gel should be applied topically (on the skin) as directed by your doctor. Please do not take it by mouth. Take Ketoconazole tablet by mouth with or without food. However, taking this drug with food can reduce your risk of stomach upset. If you are taking an antacid, take it at least 2 hours after or 1 hour before taking Ketoconazole. Take this drug at the same time each day. Continue using this drug until you complete your dosage. Do not stop taking your medication even if your symptoms disappear. Stopping the medication too early may cause your infection to return. Avoid drinking alcohol when using Ketoconazole tablets. Alcohol can increase your risk of liver problems. Avoid getting topical Ketoconazole into your eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina. If this medication gets into your eyes, rinse thoroughly with water.

Before you start using Ketoconazole, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:
