Usage

Lorbrena (Lorlatinib) is a prescription medication used to treat people with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)
• that is caused by an abnormal anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) gene, and
• that has spread to other parts of the body, and
• who have taken the medicine: alectinib or ceritinib, or
• both crizotinib and at least 1 other medicine to treat NSCLC that is caused by the ALK gene, and
• that is no longer responding to these treatments.

Side Effects

The common Lorbrena side effects are: difficulty thinking or confusion, edema (swelling in arms/hands/legs), fatigue, joint or muscle pain, trouble breathing, and weight gain. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you experience any of the following serious side effects:
• An allergic reaction (skin rash, itching, swelling of the face/throat);
• Fainting;
• Mental or mood changes;
• New or worsening lung disease (chest pain, cough, fever);
• Seizures;
• Signs of liver problems (persistent nausea or vomiting, jaundice);
• Slow heartbeat;
• Trouble speaking;
• Vision changes

Warnings and Interactions

Do not take Lorbrena if you are allergic to Lorlatinib or to any ingredients of this medication. Before you start taking Lorbrena, tell your doctor if you have:
• Breathing or lung problems;
• Depression;
• Heart problems;
• High cholesterol or triglyceride levels;
• Liver disease;
• Seizures

Lorbrena may cause dizziness or vision changes. Alcohol or marijuana can make you more dizzy. Do not drive or perform any activity that requires alertness until you can do it safely. Do not have immunizations or vaccinations without your doctor's approval. Avoid contact with people who have recently received live vaccines. Lorbrena may cause serious side effects including brain, heart, liver or lung problems, increased cholesterol and triglycerides levels. Avoid contact sports or activities that could cause injury. Wear sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. You should not be pregnant while taking Lorbrena. Use reliable forms of birth control during treatment and for 6 months after stopping treatment. Consult your doctor if you are breastfeeding.

Talk to your doctor about all the medications you take including prescription, OTC, and herbal medications. Also tell them about any vitamins and supplements you take. There may be a drug interaction between Lorbrena and other medications, especially: birth control drugs, medications for hepatitis C, seizures, rifamycins, St. John's wort, etc. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
