Dosage

Myfembree is available in the strength of 40 mg/1 mg/0.5 mg tablet only.

Usage

Myfembree (Relugolix/Estradiol/Norethindrone Acetate) is a prescription medication used to treat heavy menstrual bleeding due to uterine fibroids and to relieve moderate to severe pain in women with endometriosis. Endometriosis is a condition in which endometrial tissues are found outside the uterus, resulting in painful menstruation, heavy menstrual flow, and postcoital bleeding. The active ingredients in Myfembree are Relugolix, Estradiol, and Norethindrone Acetate. Myfembree belongs to the class of medication called gonadotropin-releasing hormone antagonists (GnRH antagonists). It works by binding and blocking GnRH receptors in the anterior pituitary gland. Myfembree decreases the release of gonadotropins (i.e., luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone), thereby decreasing the downstream production of estrogen and progesterone by the ovaries in women.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Myfembree are abnormal vaginal bleeding, body weakness, excessive night sweat, hot flush, occasional headache, and irregular menstrual flow.

Stop using Myfembree and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Severe right upper quadrant pain;
• Sudden unexplained partial or complete loss of vision or double vision;
• Sudden rise in your blood pressure;
• Thought of harming yourself;
• Weakness or numbness in an arm or leg;
• Worsening of your pain or bleeding

Warnings and Interactions

Before taking Myfembree tablets, inform your doctor if you have had an allergic reaction to relugolix, estradiol, norethindrone, or any of the ingredients in Myfembree. It comes as a tablet, and it should be taken once daily. Follow your prescription label strictly and use it as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with a cup of water. If you missed a pill, take the missed dose of Myfembree as soon as possible the same day and then resume regular dosing the next day. Your doctor will conduct a pregnancy test for you before starting you on Myfembree tablets. It would be best to know that Myfembree is not a contraceptive pill, and it does not prevent you from getting pregnant. Use a barrier contraceptive such as a condom while using Myfembree tablet and a week after stopping it. It is often recommended not to use Myfembree for more than 2 years due to the risk of continued bone loss that may not be reversible. Inform your doctor if there is no improvement in your condition.

Before you start using Myfembree, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:
• Diabetes mellitus;
• Heart diseases such as heart failure and hypertension;
• History of depression or mental illness;
• kidney problems;
• Liver problems;
• Migraine with aura;
• Stroke or recent heart attack

Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Do not take Myfembree if you are trying to become or during pregnancy. Myfembree may increase the risk of early pregnancy loss. Myfembree can cause decreased or no menstrual bleeding, making it hard to know if you are pregnant. It is unknown if relugolix passes into breast milk. Estradiol and norethindrone may decrease breast milk production. A small amount of estradiol and norethindrone passes into breast milk and may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding. There may be a drug interaction between Myfembree and other drugs such as fezolinetant, mifepristone, and ospemifene.
