Usage

Nivemycin (Neomycin) is a prescription medication used to treat bacterial infections of the intestine and other conditions. The active ingredient in the Nivemycin tablet is Neomycin. Neomycin belongs to the group of drugs called an aminoglycoside antibiotics. It works by binding to polysomes, inhibiting protein synthesis, and generating errors in the transcription of the genetic code. This mechanism of action stopped the production of essential proteins needed for the growth of bacteria. This medication can be used for other purposes not mentioned in this guide.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Nivemycin are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, sore mouth, increased salivation, and hearing damage.

Stop using Nivemycin and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Difficulty hearing;
• Impaired absorption of food and nutrients from the intestines, leading to fatty stools and severe diarrhea;
• Muscle twitching;
• Seizure;
• Twitching of the eyeball (nystagmus);
• Weakness;
• Worsening of treated condition;

Warnings and Interactions

Before taking Nivemycin tablets, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it, other aminoglycoside antibiotics (such as tobramycin), or allergies. You should use this medication as directed by your doctor. Take Nivemycin tablets by mouth with plenty of water. If you experience stomach upset, take it with food to reduce stomach irritation. • Hearing problems (including deafness, decreased hearing);

• Kidney problems;
• Myasthenia gravis;
• Parkinson's disease

Tell your doctor about all the medications you use, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. This medication is not for use during pregnancy. It would help if you discussed the risks and benefits with your doctor before using the Nivemycin tablet or oral solution. It is not known if this drug passes into breast milk. Let your doctor decide for you before breastfeeding your baby while using a Neomycin tablet. There may be a drug interaction between Nivemycin and other drugs such as typhoid vaccine, actinomycin, cyclosporine, methotrexate, furosemide, digoxin, fludarabine, cephalexin, penicillin.
