Usage

Soframycin Nasal Spray (Framycetin Sulfate/Gramicidin/Phenylephrine Hydrochloride) is a prescription nasal spray for treating nose infection (sinusitis), crusting rhinitis, and congestion caused by certain bacteria. It relieves nasal congestion accompanying a common cold and is effective in post-surgery patients undergoing intranasal or sinus surgery. The active ingredients in Soframycin Nasal Spray are Framycetin Sulfate, Gramicidin, and Phenylephrine Hydrochloride. Framycetin sulfate and Gramicidin belong to a class of drugs called a broad-spectrum aminoglycoside. They work by killing bacteria. Phenylephrine hydrochloride belongs to a class of medications called nasal decongestants. They work together to kill or stop the growth of bacteria that cause disease.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Soframycin are sneezing, a stinging sensation in the nose, nasal discharge, and irritation.

Stop using Soframycin Nasal Spray and contact your doctor immediately if you have any of the following serious side effects such as:
• Blocked nose; • Blurred vision;
• Breathing difficulties;
• Drowsiness;
• Increased heart rate;
• Irregular heartbeat;
• Nose bleed

Warnings and Interactions

Before using Soframycin Nasal spray, you should blow your nose to clear your nostrils. This medication is for external use and should be used according to your doctor's prescription label. Soframycin Nasal spray should not be used by people with narrow-angle glaucoma, rhinitis sicca, and for children under two years of age.

To use the nasal Spray, gently shake the bottle. Press the nostril not receiving the medication and gently insert the bottle tip into your other nostril. Instill two (2) sprays in each nostril every 4 hours—a maximum of 6 times daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Breathing normally - do not sniff deeply; wait 15 minutes after using the product before blowing your nose. Rinse the spray tips with hot water after use to prevent repeated infection. Do not stop using this drug even if you feel better.

Before you start using Soframycin Nasal Spray, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you:
• Have a dry nose (rhinitis sicca);
• Have eye problems such as narrow-angle glaucoma;
• Have kidney disease;
• Have liver cancer;
• Have nasal polyps;
• Have nose cancer

Inform your doctor about all your medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Soframycin may harm an unborn baby if used in pregnancy. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. It is not known if Soframycin is excreted in breast milk. There may be a drug interaction between Soframycin Nasal Spray and other nasal Sprays, especially steroid-containing sprays. Store the Spray between 15°C and 30°C and in a secured place.
