Triumeq Information

Triumeq Details (Brand and Generic)

CanadaPharmacyOnline.com offers the brand Triumeq from Turkey and the United Kingdom by GSK and from Canada by ViiV Healthcare. The generic Abacavir/Dolutegravir/Lamivudine comes from India also called Inbec by Emcure.

Dosage

The Brand Triumeq and its generic equivalent (Abacavir/Dolutegravir/Lamivudine) are both available in the strength of 600 mg/50 mg/300 mg tablets.

Usage

Triumeq (Abacavir/Dolutegravir/Lamivudine) is a prescription medication used to treat HIV infection in adults and children who weigh at least 88 pounds (40 kg). The active ingredients in Triumeq are Dolutegravir, Abacavir, and Lamivudine. Dolutegravir is an integrase inhibitor. It blocks an enzyme called integrase that is needed by the virus to make new copies of itself in the body. Abacavir and Lamivudine, are nucleoside reverse-transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs). They work by blocking reverse transcriptase activity, an enzyme produced by HIV that allows it to make more copies of itself in the cells it has infected and spread in the body. Triumeq does not cure HIV infection; it reduces the amount of virus in your body by increasing your CD4 counts and keeping the viral cells low.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Triumeq are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, tiredness, headache, and difficulty falling asleep.

Stop using Triumeq and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Body aches;
• Diarrhea;
• Extreme tiredness;
• General ill feeling;
• High-grade fever;
• Nausea;
• Rash (generalized body rash;
• Stomach pain;
• Vomiting

Warnings and Interactions

Before taking this drug, tell your doctor if you are allergic to abacavir, dolutegravir, or Lamivudine; or if you have any other allergies. Triumeq is not for use without a valid prescription from your doctor. This medication should be used as directed by your doctor. It is not known if Triumeq is safe and effective in children and adults who weigh less than 88 pounds (40 kg). To control your HIV infection and stop your illness from getting worse or spreading to others, you must keep taking all your medicines unless your doctor tells you to stop taking any. Use an effective barrier method (latex or condoms) during sexual activity as directed by your doctor. Do not share personal items (needles, syringes, and razors) that may have contacted blood or other body fluids. Consult your doctor for more details. Your immune system may get stronger and begin to fight infections that have been hidden in your body for a long time. Tell your healthcare provider right away if you start having new symptoms after taking Triumeq.

Before you start using Triumeq, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:
• A gene variation called HLA-B*5701 allele (your doctor will conduct a test to confirm this for you);
• Heart problems or risk factors such as diabetes, smoking, high blood pressure, hypercholesterolemia;
• Kidney disease;
• Moderate to severe liver disease (especially hepatitis B or C);
• Pancreatitis

Tell your doctor about all the medications you use, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your healthcare provider right away if you plan to become pregnant or think you may be pregnant during treatment with the Triumeq tablet. Your doctor may prescribe a different medicine than Triumeq if you plan to become pregnant or if pregnancy is confirmed during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. If you can become pregnant, you and your healthcare provider should talk about effective birth control (contraception) during treatment with Triumeq. Do not breastfeed if you take Triumeq. You should not breastfeed if you have HIV-1 because of the risk of passing HIV-1 to your baby. Abacavir and Lamivudine can pass into your breast milk. There may be a drug interaction between Triumeq and other drugs such as antacid, dofetilide, emtricitabine, fampridine, and sorbitol-containing medicines.
