Use: Multiple sclerosis (MS)
Gilenya is a drug which is used in the treatment of patients suffering from relapsing multiple sclerosis (MS). The active ingredient in Gilenya is fingolimod, which belongs to the group of drugs called immunosuppressants. Fingolimod works by preventing immune cells from reaching the central nervous system. It does this by keeping the immune cells within the lymph nodes. Although Gilenya does not cure MS, it does help to decrease the frequency of the symptoms. It is the first once daily pill for this illness.
Gilenya Side Effects
The possible Gilenya side effects include:
• Back pain;
• Diarrhea;
• Headache, fatigue;
• Stuffy nose, sinus pain, coughing.
More serious side effects may include:
• Chest pain, pounding heartbeat;
• Fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms;
• Nausea, stomach pain, itching, loss of appetite;
• Slow heart rate, dizziness, feeling weak;
• Sudden numbness or weakness, severe headache;
• Swelling, warmth, redness or signs of skin infection;
• Vision problems, eye pain, sensitivity to light.
Gilenya Safety in Pregnancy and Children
Before buying Gilenya, tell your doctor if you have any of the following medical conditions:
• Active or chronic infection;
• Asthma or breathing disorder;
• Diabetes;
• High blood pressure or any heart condition;
• History of Long QT syndrome;
• History of uveitis;
• Liver or kidney disease;

• Slow heart rate.
Gilenya is pregnancy category C. It is not known whether Gilenya can cause harm to an unborn baby. You must consult your doctor if you are planning to conceive, pregnant or breastfeeding. Gilenya is suitable for use in adults over 18 years of age only.
