Taltz Information

Taltz Details (Brand and Generic)

CanadaPharmacyOnline.com currently offers the brand Taltz Enhanced Prefilled Syringe and Prefilled Auto Injector from Canada, manufactured by Eli Lilly. The generic version is not available. Taltz is available for local pick up only. Our customers may also purchase other Immunosuppressive Agents such as Betaseron and Imuran.

Dosage

Taltz is available in the strength of 80 mg/ml Prefilled Syringe and Auto Injector.

Usage

Taltz (Ixekizumab) is a prescription medication used as a biologic medication for treating psoriatic arthritis and plaque psoriasis (a skin disease in which red, scaly patches form on some body areas). The active ingredient in Taltz injection is Ixekizumab. Ixekizumab belongs to the group of medications called interleukin inhibitors. IL-17A is a naturally occurring cytokine involved in normal inflammatory and immune responses and plays a vital role in the pathogenesis of plaque psoriasis. Ixekizumab blocks the inflammatory protein IL-17A. This improves joint pain and swelling from arthritis and rash from psoriasis.

Side Effects and Precautions

The common side effects of Taltz are injection site reactions, upper respiratory tract infections, nausea, and fungal skin infection.

Stop using Taltz and contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Cough, shortness of breath, cough with red or pink mucus;
• Diarrhea (may be bloody), stomach cramps;
• Eye swelling, redness, crusting, or drainage (may be signs of infection);
• Increased urination, pain or burning when you urinate;
• Painful skin sores;
• Sores or white patches in your mouth or throat (yeast infection or "thrush");
• Signs of a fungal infection (rash or red patches, itching, burning, cracked skin, hair loss)

Warnings and Interactions

You should not use Taltz injection without your doctor's prescription. Your doctor will check you for tuberculosis (TB) before starting you on Taltz injection and watch you closely for signs of tuberculosis during and after treatment with Taltz. Taltz affects the immune system. It may increase your risk of infections, which can be serious. Do not use Taltz if you have any symptoms of infection unless you've been tested by your doctor, who gave you the go-ahead. Call your doctor right away if you have a symptom after starting Taltz. Do not receive a "live" vaccine while using Ixekizumab (Taltz injection). The vaccine may not work as well during this time and may not fully protect you from disease. Taltz auto-injection is a self-administered injection that comes in 80 mg syringes. Do not shake a syringe or autoinjector that contains Ixekizumab. The medicine can be injected into the thigh or abdomen except for your navel and the area 1 inch (2.5 centimeters) around it. The injection site should be rotated, so the same place is not used multiple times. You may start to see improvement within a few weeks, but it may take several months to notice full effect in some people. Use each syringe or autoinjector only once and inject all the solution in the syringe or autoinjector. Dispose of used needles and autoinjectors in a puncture-resistant container. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about how to dispose of the puncture-resistant container.

Before you start using Taltz, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have:
• Active infections;
• Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis (inflammatory bowel disease);
• Tuberculosis or close contact with someone with tuberculosis

Tell your doctor about all the medications you use, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. It is not known if Taltz can harm an unborn baby. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed. It is not known if Taltz passes into your breast milk. There may be a drug interaction between Taltz and live vaccines such as BCG vaccine live, zoster vaccine live, smallpox (vaccinia) vaccine, influenza virus vaccine quadrivalent intranasal, measles mumps and rubella vaccine, and typhoid vaccine live.
