The more serious side effects may include:

• Signs of allergic reaction:
o Difficulty breathing
o Hives

Before you start taking Optifer Alpha, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you currently take including OTC and herbal medications. Tell your doctor if you are nursing or pregnant, as your dosages may need to be adjusted during this time. Do not give Optifer Alpha to children without medical advice. Do not take it in larger or smaller amounts, or for longer than recommended. An overdose of iron can be fatal, especially for young children.
