Product Details

Proferrin is an animal-derived iron supplement used to treat iron deficiency. Most of the time, people get their iron from the foods they eat. Iron is used by your body to form red blood cells and transport oxygen throughout the body.

The common side effects of Proferrin include: upset stomach, gas, diarrhea, constipation, reddish-brown urine or stools.

The more serious side effects may include:

• Signs of allergic reaction:
o Difficulty breathing
o Hives
o Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat

You should not take Proferrin if you are allergic to Iron or meat products, or if you have iron overload disorder. Before you start taking Proferrin, talk to your doctor about your medical history and about all the medications you currently take including OTC and herbal medications.

Tell your doctor if you are nursing or pregnant, as your dosages may need to be adjusted during this time.

Do not give Proferrin to children without medical advice.
